The Feast of the Presentation of our Lord
Last week, EYFS learned about the Feast of the Presentation of the Lord. The feast is celebrated 40 days after Christmas. The children loved acting out the story for their friends and teachers.
Kung Hei Fat Choi
EYFS celebrated by learning some of the language, tasting traditional cuisine and performing a Dragon Dance (which was excellent). All children were given a fortune cookie to take home. Happy Chinese New Year!
EMILE
Recently, our Year 4 children took part in a times tables competition.
Out of over 900 schools we are one of only 30 schools to reach the final!
The children answered over 42,000 times table questions correctly in two days!
The final will take place on Wednesday, 29th January and Thursday, 30th January 2025.
Our Year 4 children have been working really hard, wouldn’t it be amazing if we won the competition!
STRANGER DANGER - GMP
Great Manchester Police came into school to discuss "Stranger Danger" with our children. GMP have asked us to share "Bee in the Loop" with all our parents, by scanning the QR code it will enable you receive free email alerts from your local officers about any issues in your area. (See below)
JANUARY 2025
Unstoppable! Following on from last year's success where the team earned the opportunity to play at a Premier League Stadium. The Our Lady of Grace Girl's Football Team returned to Manchester United's training facility in Salford to compete again in their annual tournament. The girl's defended their title, finishing as Champions and winning every match! What a day. What an experience. The girls were a credit to the school and their families. We are all very proud.
Gaelic football coaching returned to Our Lady of Grace this month. The visiting coaches were so impressed with the children's enthusiasm, positive attitude and athleticism that they invited many of the pupils to attend trials at a local club!
It is important to celebrate following success. With this in mind the children were invited to wear their own clothes and take part in a celebration day. This was to say thank you for the key part they all played in our recent Catholic Schools Inspection. A variety of activities were planned including the opportunity to watch the film ‘Wild Robot’ with their friends (and a small bag of treats!). The film has strong positive messages which complimented beautifully the children's recent work on British Values. The staff enjoyed a Slattery's lunch!
DECEMBER 2024
One of the most enjoyable times of the year is when Year 6 invite their grandparents and relatives to watch the concert performance. It was a great turn out with many mince pies eaten and tea drunk. The children performed a fantastic mix of carols and classics to entertain those who came.
Our Lady of Grace took Years 1-6 to watch a wonderful pantomime at Middleton Arena. We watched Sleeping Beauty which was enjoyed by all! It was great to see the whole school having fun in one place on this fantastic trip.
A lovely start to Advent as parents, adults, staff and pupils came together in the hall to watch the Year 6 Advent Assembly.
