Homework
Homework will be handed out every Friday and marked on the following Friday. There will be one Grammar, Arithmetic and a times tables piece of Homework a week. We will mark these as a class on Friday.
Spellings
A list of 10 spellings will be sent home on a Friday to be tested on the following Friday. If lost, the list of the spelling words for the term can be found on Google Classroom and at the bottom of this page.
Reading books
Once you have completed a reading book, please bring it to school so I can give you a new one.
PE
PE is on a Friday. PE kits consist of a House coloured top, shorts and sensible footwear. Also, hair must be tied up, and jewellery mustn't be worn.
Year 4 Times tables check
The Year 4's will be doing their multiplication tables check. The multiplication tables check is an online test for all pupils in Year 4. Pupils are asked to answer 25 questions on times tables from two to 12. They are given six seconds per question, with three seconds rest between each question, so the test should last less than five minutes.
Please be reassured that we deliver these tests in such a way as to ensure it is not stressful for the children; if you have any questions, please ask. The best way to prepare for these tests is to practice lots. Below I have attached a few links to some times tables games.
Uniform
Please ensure all items of uniform, coats, and bags have names in them.
Mass:
Our Class Mass today was lovely. It was wonderful to see some parents there as well.
Well done to our class readers. You read beautifully.
Father Allen has asked for volunteers for Our Lady of Grace Mass on either Saturday evenings or Sunday mornings. He is asking for Altar servers and welcomers (to hand out Order of Services and Hymn books).
It would be lovely to see Year 4 volunteering in Church if you're able to.
For further information, please speak to Mrs. Makin down at Church.
Many Thanks - and well done again for a wonderful service this morning.
This week we are learning all about Ancient Egypt as part of our Heroes and Villains WOW Week.
Create a project about Ancient Egypt; this could be a fact file, 3D model, art work or a newspaper report of Howard Carter finding Tutankhamun's tomb. Be creative.
All entries will receive a prize and the top 5 projects will win a special prize for their efforts.
Entries are due before 17th December.
Good Luck.
Egg Experiment
We placed eggs in water, milk, apple juice, orange juice and coke for 3 days. We then inspected how each liquid had effected the eggs. This showed us how acid in each of the drinks, attacks and destroys the enamel, or the outer surface of our teeth. We learnt that if we brush our teeth, we are saving our enamel and our beautiful smiles.
For the chance to win an amazing price, create a Newspaper report about the story of James and the Giant Peach.
You could type this on a computer or you could handwrite the report. Make sure you add pictures and a title.
Entries to be collected Monday 1st November.
All entries will win a raffle ticket and the chance to win a special prize.
Good luck
