Reading
Each week, children complete a short arithmetic test in school to build their maths fluency and confidence.
The completed test will be sent home every Friday so parents can see their child’s progress. You can use the test for extra practice at home by going over any questions your child found tricky. This helps to strengthen understanding and support steady progress in maths skills.
Reading is a key part of learning and is encouraged every day in school and at home.
Children should read as much as possible throughout the week. Regular reading builds fluency, understanding, and a love of books. We encourage parents to listen to their child read often and talk about what they have read.
Children can bring their reading books into school and change them as soon as they have finished. There is no set day for changing books. Once a book has been completed and recorded in the reading diary, your child can choose a new one straight away.
Reading diaries should be kept in school bags every day so staff can check progress and add comments. Working together, we can help every child develop strong reading habits and enjoy the world of stories and information.
Please ensure your child comes to school wearing the following PE kit:
• Green PE T-shirt
• Black shorts, jogging bottoms or leggings
• Black PE jacket
• Black trainers or pumps
Children should wear their PE kit to school so they are ready for their lesson and do not need to change during the school day.
All jewellery must be removed before coming to school, and long hair must be tied back.
PE kits must be clean and clearly labelled with your child’s name.
