Homework and Spellings:
Homework and spellings are set every Friday and collected the following Friday.
This gives children a full week to complete their tasks and practise their spellings. Homework will link to class learning and help children review and build on what they have been taught. Please support your child by helping them plan their time and encouraging regular spelling practice.
Spelling lists for the Autumn term can be found at the bottom of this page for each year group.
Arithmetic test:
Each week, children complete a short arithmetic test in school to build their maths fluency and confidence.
The completed test will be sent home every Friday so parents can see their child’s progress. You can use the test for extra practice at home by going over any questions your child found tricky. This helps to strengthen understanding and support steady progress in maths skills.
Reading:
Reading is a key part of learning and is encouraged every day in school and at home.
Children should read as much as possible throughout the week. Regular reading builds fluency, understanding, and a love of books. We encourage parents to listen to their child read often and talk about what they have read.
Children can bring their reading books into school and change them as soon as they have finished. There is no set day for changing books. Once a book has been completed and recorded in the reading diary, your child can choose a new one straight away.
Reading diaries should be kept in school bags every day so staff can check progress and add comments. Working together, we can help every child develop strong reading habits and enjoy the world of stories and information.
PE day:
PE takes place on the following days:
S – Thursday
B – Friday
A – Friday
PE Kit:
• T-shirt in the colour of their house team
• Black shorts or black jogging bottoms
• Trainers or pumps
• All jewellery must be removed before the lesson.
• Long hair must be tied back.
• PE kits must be clean and clearly labelled with your child’s name.
Wearing house colours helps build team spirit and pride while ensuring everyone is prepared and safe for PE.
