We had a great time celebrating World Book Day! We made mini books about our work on 'The Highwayman' poem by Alfred Noyes. We watched a performance of 'The Greatest Fairy Tale Ever Told' by a visiting theatre company and we made these super masks...
In Collective Worship we are thinking about peace. We reflected on he a famous prayer, written by St Teresa of Avila, which reminds us that Jesus uses us to spread his gospel of peace, in the way we live our everyday lives.
Christ has no body now on earth but yours, no feet but yours.
Yours are the eyes - through which his love looks out to the world.
Yours are the feet - with which he goes about doing good.
Yours are the hands - with which he blesses people now.
We thought about how we could use our eyes, hands and feet to bring love and peace.
We have been learning about WW2 in History. This week we found out about rationing. We measured out what an adult got each week, designed our own WW2 posters to persuade people to ration or grow their own food and tasted Spam! We also followed a wartime recipe and cooked Cornbeef Hash.
5R chose Spain as their country during International Week. We learnt how to Flamenco, listened to Spanish music and found out about Spain. We produced a travel brochure persuading people to visit Spain in Big Write.
Here we are sampling some Spanish food...
On Friday, Y5 held a special Remembrance Day assembly. Have a look at RG's amazing PowerPoint for more information.
In Science we have been finding out about gravity. We found out about Isaac Newton and his discovery about gravity. Then we measured the weight and mass of objects in our classroom.
